From afar, Just Love Coffee looks like just another space in a strip mall on Brandon Blvd. In reality, it’s one of the best breakfasts you’re going to find in town, a bright and buzzing place to enjoy breakfast, and a wildly nice staff. What you’ll also find is some of the sweetest coffee on record.
You see, Just Love Coffee has two trademarks: its use of waffle irons to cook many of its good items and its specialty coffee concoctions, most of which are ridiculously sweet. If you’re the sort of person who loves an over-the-top mocha, seasonal and very sugary lattes, or anything else that walks the line between coffee and cup of chocolate syrup, Just Love Coffee is calling your name.
Why go to Starbucks for a frappe or something loaded with their various syrups when you can come here and enjoy a toffee coffee (in their own words, “A delectable combination of toffee nut, caramel, and dark chocolate. Your sweet tooth will thank you.”) while you relax in a bright, buzzing environment.
That’s not to say that Just Love Coffee doesn’t have unsweetened methods of getting caffeine into your body. They have a selection of teas and coffees in a variety of preparations (check out their menu here). This isn’t the coffee shop you go to for that, though. I, personally, am not a huge fan of sweet coffee. So if I’m looking for a quick fix, this isn’t the shop for me.
However, if I want food with my coffee, you bet your ass this is where I want to go because the breakfast menu at Just Love Coffee is next level. It’s a pretty big menu, so I’m not going to hit them all, but here are a few faves of ours.
Bacon Tater
The Bacon Tater is one of the greatest creations of all time. It’s a serving of hash browns cooked in a waffle iron, topped with bacon and cheese. It comes with a side of sausage gravy for dipping and it’s perfect.
Flying Pig
Just Love Coffee takes their standard waffle and stuffs it with egg, sausage, and bacon. It sounds like an odd creation, but it works so well. There’s a bit of sweetness from the waffle, the saltiness or the bacon, the spiciness of the sausage, and eggs–I love eggs.
Breakfast Taco
If you don’t know about breakfast tacos, change your life. You don’t have to go to Texas or Southern California for good breakfast tacos, though. Just Love Coffee has your back. They have a long list of ingredients, the first two of which are free. It’s housed in a tasty flour tortilla, which is then pressed in the waffle iron (seriously, this place was called Just Love Waffles in another life).
If you want my preferred taco: egg, cheddar cheese, potato, bacon.
In all, I go to Just Love Coffee for the food, rather than the coffee. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, though, go sink that tooth into a crazy coffee experience. And have a breakfast taco while you’re there.
